Caramel Candy Brownie

A perfect tursday evening. My boyfriend watching football (or soccer, if you happen to be American), me spamming him with random crap from the internet (cats, anyone??) – ah, romance :) (appearantly,  we are not winning the game at the moment…)

So I have neglected my blog, but I made brownies, so we’re good, right?

Let’s talk candy, in Denmark we have a chocolate covered caramel candy, called “Dumle“. (ok, it’s finnish, but whatever). I was asked if I thought it possible to make a cake with dumle, and decided to accept the challenge! This recipe should work with any type of soft candy.

The brownie base is the same at used in my peanutbutter brownie, because of its amazing easyness :) in this case it produces a chewy, delicious brownie, tasting a lot like dumle!.

Ingredients:

115 g butter

180 g dark chocolate

75 g flour

1 tsk baking powder

½ tsk coarse salt

170 g sugar

3 eggs

2 tsk. vanilla sugar

2 bags of dumle caramels, about 240 g total, unwrapped.

Directions:

Melt the chocolate with the butter, and allow to cool. Add the sugar, and beat in the eggs. Finally, mix in the dry ingredients. (told you, easy!). Now pour half the batter into a small baking dish (10×15 cm or so, and take my Word for it, line it with parchment paper – don’t say I didn’t warn you!) and bake at 180 degrees Celsius, until just set. Scatter the unwrapped candies all over the baked batter, and dollop the rest of the batter on top. Return to the oven, and bake until set.

Let the brownie cool, and the chill it in the fridge, before cutting with a Sharp knife. Or eat warm with a spoon, your choice!
