Remember my competition? Well, I have picked a winner! And I will be announcing who won, as soon as I have told you how to make the amazing ruby drink above.
500 g blackberries, washed
400 ml water
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
250 g sugar
Mix the water and the berries in a pot, and bring to boil. Let boil for 5 minutes, then strain. Clean the pot, and pour the liquid back in. Add the sugar and lemon juice, and bring to boil. Using a spoon, remove foam from the surface, until no more foam appears (thus clarifying the juice). When the juice is clear, let it cool, and pour into clean bottles, in which you have added a little (1 tsp or so) clear alcohol and shaken (it is not necessary to use expensive polish vodka as I did, any clear alcohol will do, as tastefree as possible). Store the juice in the fridge, and dilute with water to taste, when drinking. (Also, make nice drinks by adding vodka).
Now, for the winner!
I got the following suggestions:
Muffins with white chocolate and blackberries
Blackberry Pie
Blackberry Jam
Blackberry Timbale
Blackberry Ice Cream
Blackberry Sorbet
Cheesecake With Blackberry
Blackberry Pavlova
After long, careful considereation, I decided that the most inspirational suggestion was the Blackberry Timbale. So congratulations to Jon!
And thanks for all the suggestions, several of them might be tried!
